Our touching as humans is becoming ever more infrequent as we depend more deeply on technology and the impersonal use of that for connection with one another. Societal breakdown is imminent, painting a sobering picture of an increasingly fragmented world, where intimate social ties, once seen as an integral part of daily life and associated with a host of psychological and civic benefits are shrinking or nonexistent. In bad times, far more people appear to be suffering alone. Perhaps it is time for us, collectively, to reach out and touch another, if only for a day. It could make all the difference in someones life to know that they are truly cared for.

You make a very good point here and it is something I ponder often in many ways. As a disabled person I deal with it in many ways. The assistance I get is below poverty level, which I have NO IDEA how they think it is sufficient for people with Extra Needs, their programs for supposedly helping us are a one size fits all that fit very few, taking into account none of our disabilities. When I went through the evaluation process for SSI, they government did not do proper examinations, never so much as took an xray or MRI and yet issued denials. They treated me as if I were faking and denied me the ability to prove it for almost two years (I am still trying to recover from their conduct). The Mental Health system in the U.S. has been so underbudgeted since the Reagan era that most of my life I have gotten no real help with the exception of one woman who gives me free sessions by dropping in on me a couple times a month. The Merced County (California) Mental Health dept is a pathetic joke around here.

I have had to face most of my battles alone but one thing that helps keep me fighting is that I get letters from others that can't fight back thanking me for fighting. I am not any kind of heroe, I fight back because they leave me no choice.

Randall, know that you are not alone. You are doing a great work for the under cared for and the under privileged. Someday, and I hope it is soon, we will see a different age where all will have equal care and equal rights. Blessings to you, my friend. Hope to hear more from you soon! ~S

Thanks!

I'm feeling better these days now that have my quiet and can sleep and concentrate. Holding myself together in the head and not quite so much problem absorbing what I read. Thanks for all your encouragement!!!! I made a post in my blog about what I've been up to and I'm hoping I get accepted by Winn Devon, it would take a big load off me to have someone taking care of the promotion and sales part of things and the company has a very solid reputation (and I've researched them thuroughly). Other than that I've just been working on catching up after zazzle untimely site upgrade and starting to get some sales already. ~R
